[Mk2] [Turbo] engine management

Post by rookie-racer »

for a built engine, if somebody plonked in a set of meaty injectors, say 800cc connected by a quality fuel rail, and to feed these fitted a lumpin big fuel pump ie, 255L/Hr,

using that increased flow they upped fuel pressure to say three bar, and controlled this high flowing set up via a piggy back ie unichip, and eithera boost controller module or a stand alone ebc unit.

if you were running serious amounts of boost, would the above be sufficient, for would mapping this or would you be realy be best with a standalone ala motec

Well for a start the Unichip can only control injectors upto 540cc I believe so that would be out...

For that kind of setup I'd have thought standalone ECU would make sense, not sure if ANY piggyback ECU can control 800cc injectors?!

Would be interested to see what others think as we'll be running larger that 540cc injectors too....

being cheap on the EMS is the quickest way to kill your hard work. Well actually, being cheap on the tuner is the quickest way. But whatever, you will need a proper ECU for what you're wanting to do.
