wow! That is looking really good.

As for the seats i would go for a good pair of second hand seat thats work well and not too wobby etc. then go for a retrim in leather (best for the tbar for origionality, depending on age of car)

you can get the retrim done to match the original seats, as most second hand ones will be shoddy by now. (try and get hold of leather second hand ones to keep the 16V bit embossed in the headrest)

would be a shame to put worn seats into a lovely restored car.
approx cost for retrim would be <£500

I think a retrim may be the best way to go for the seats. I have the orginals of course but the drivers side is split and cracked. What do you think I should do with the radio and speakers?

Jon, Mr T have been very good so far with parts no probs at all yet.

If I were in your shoes, I'd definitely go for a retrim. It's something I'd love to do myself in the future (though my car doesn't need it just yet) but every pair of seats I've seen; even those in excellent condition are slightly blemished somewhere; which I'd say you don't want given the level of restore your car is having. Plus those excellent condition ones are not that easy to find...

As for stereo; well, I love my sounds so personally I'd go for a new one. BUT, I'd find a headunit with a retro look to suit the car. There was one lovely Pioneer in last year's range that I would have bought if I could afford it. I'm a bit upset though as I've just had a look for it and they don't make it anymore and I can't find it anywhere... It had the perfect look for the interior.
But yeah, I'd upgrade the Headunit and speakers for sure. I can understand the argument for originality (and I suppose it depends how much you want to stick to the original design; how much of a purist you are) but I personally think there are certain areas where 15-20 years of improvements have made a significant difference and are therefore worth upgrading. Stereo is one of these, also suspension, etc...

Just my 2p...

Car looks really really amazing though. Shame this forum doesn't have a mouth stuck open forum as that'd be suitable for me right now. Guess this is close enough: =P~
When you're done with yours, any chance you can get mine done to the same level? :)

Looks amazing - nice to see one being tackled so throughly. Regarding seats - someone in the forsale section has what look to be a very good pair of seats up for grabs presently, which are worth a look. Stereo wise why not upgrade to home market double din, from something like a later celica etc at least that way you keep it in the toyota family, and get the option of radio/cassette/CD or even CD/mini-disc player

Thanks for all the great advice. I've pm'd the guy with the seats so hopefully they are still available. They do look in very good condition and may could be reconnolised (sp?)
