Tubby Vs New Audi RS4 (420bhp)

Post by llenrub »

Comimg on to A41 bypass from Aylesbury with an New Audi RS4 (420bhp)on my tail. dropped to third and booted it. He was well game. He probably relished the thought of dropping back and gunning it to my tail to let me know I'm in the way.

He was about a car length and a half behind and could not make any ground at all. Once I got in to fifth I pulled 2 & a half car lengths clear and it stayed that way until I slowed for a bend. He pulled along side to check the car out. Out of the bend and up the hill I booted again. His car was much weaker on the hill, I pulled 3 car lenghts fairly quickly.

When I let him pass and then pulled out behind. He did not boot it at all - a sure sign that he got a shock.

I was pleased as my car has been mapped cautiously and I wasn't running full boost.

I thought you'd sold your MR2 and bought a Ferrari?

He was toying with you.

I had a play with an RS6 once. It started raining and he passed me around a bend at 70mph+

No I don't think so. I was running 340hp and about 310 iLb torque with over 300kg less weight. Therefore I had a slightly higher power to weight ratio. RS4 is faster than my M3 but not by miles but my Tubby is much faster! especially when I boost it to 370hp which I rarely ever do.

I know how it feels if a little cheap car gives you a run. I'd pass them down the inside rather than let them think they had a chance!

He had loads of room and no other cars on the road. The straight was over 1 1/2 miles long yet he made no impression. He should have been bearing down on me.

Yeah, probably.

He could have used the Hyperdrive........hit the button and appeared 100 yards in front. Alternatively, he could have effected the high lift suspension and drove straight over the top !! #-o

We met up in my local cos He lives on my estate. He confirmed he was flat out & he thought I was starting to pull away until the bend. But up the hill was falling back a bit more. He never expected to be matched for acceleration on the straight by an MR2.

If your car is running a genuine 340-370BHP it'd pull an RS4 no problem...i pulled a few car lengths with 330BHP!

Do you have a dyno graph?

Lots of people have fast car where I live, the A41 is where everyone opens them up. There is nowhere else in the area.

As for a CT26 producing 370bhp. As far as Im aware Turbo Technics can rework them to produce more than this. How good they are is another matter.

Peter Gidden & Muhsin,

I'll get the Dyno graphs on as soon as I can. I look forward to your comments. I think you will find them interesting.

111mph traps is not 389bhp.

Considering a stock ct20b can do 110mph traps with 1.25bar.

traps = trapspeed on the 1/4 mile.

Its the ultimate dyno because you can't fudge physics, the higher the power, the higher the trapspeed.

When looking at a dragrun, the time itself doesn't say a whole lot unless you inlude a trapspeed and a 60ft. The trapspeed shows how much power you have compared to the next bloke. The time is how well you utilised that power. The 60ft shows where you can improve your time.

I better get some sleep too, its 3:10am!
