You win some, you lose some...

Post by Mike »

Lots of accounts of victories for the humble 2 but surely Im not the only one who's lost a couple of tangles?!
What cars have you come unstuck against? Or have any unsuspecting motors surprised you?

Personnally my first whopping came at the hands of a Porsche 996 GT2, to be honest I did ok, I was only about 3 car lengths behind so I think I may have surprised him.
I've also lost to a Mclaren Mercedes SLR (before anyone asks why I even bothered to try; it was night time so all I could see was his headlights in my mirrror, at least until he undertook me that is!)

Thankfully Im yet to be embarrassed by anything, but its only a matter of time before a Nova with a Cavalier Turbo engine hands me my a$$.

Got destroyed by a Vauxhall Cosra once

BUT! It was one of those Calibra turbo ones, but looked standard. I should have realised the three gauges on the a-pillar must have been for some purpose 8) . Never seen a car accelerate off the line so fast in my life  .

Well im not shy to say that I was beaten on the strip in my ole tubby by a brown mk1 clio with a Audi TT...

I left him off the line obviously and then he shot past me about 2/3rd the way down the strip! #-o

And on a more recent note. (since i bought my GT4).. I got my ass handed on a plate to me by an astra GSI on the Mways... He was on my bumper from 70 all the way to 130! #-o

After i conceeded, he gave me a flash of the lights and a smile.. the little git.. lol Then i saw a clue as to why he whooped me.. There was this huge Intercooler hanging from the bottom of his front bumper! :-k

Its all fun. :thumleft:

mates P1 imprezza was glued to my bumper round our bypass which consists of mile straights and roundabouts then he decided to overtake me and he was pretty much 5 car lenghts ahead but my tubbys near std with a few mods il give him another go he also has just built a 360bhp 2.1 escort rs turbo which will be fairly quick when ecu is mapped

They are actually quite heavy and about 204ish bhp. So not especially quick.

300+ Nova  Although I didn't bother dropping down a gear. I was 4th doing 40 when he came steaming past.

Renault 19 shocked me. I was only slowly pulling away from him.

If thats the Bronze coloured clio I saw at York dragway, then its feckin well fast!

It ran a 12.6 @ 116mph when I watched it.

Looks completely standard too. muahaha!

I would love a Nova / Corsa with a cally turbo C20 LET engine in it, phase 3.5 with 320horses would be a 12 seconder and porsche turbo killer.

There was a green bogey sick looking one that frequents york dragway that had 310hp and was stupidly fast, i messaged him on the boards and he was goin for 450hp next. madness!

Back on topic, with cars that handed it to me unsuspectingly ... well I didnt loose the race in question but it was a hard fight to win against something I thought I would whoop.

Basically in my old s13 with stage 2 mods (270ish hp) I came accross a normal looking P reg elise on the dual carriageway and he baited me for a race, so I thought yeah I'll take you on, showing off a bit to my 17yr old cousin too lol anyway the race was so close, I was only just getting away and took till 3rd n 4th to get away prop on the straight.

Coincedently I raced the SAME elise at york dragway in august 2006 and a GRUDGE MATCH ensued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over the 1/4 mile he just edged me, but the resulting terminal says I was catching him up :P

he got 13.4 @ 103 I got 13.504 @ 105.54mph :-D

Thats the git... I was there last year in August and kept going up against another carrib blue tubby who i went with.

My quickest was 13.5@101. A TVR Sagaris was there also in a shocking green colour.. now that sounded amazing!... 8-[

Got beaten only earlyer today by a Octavia VRS in my NA MR2.

Admittedly, second time round he wasnt a lucky. I'd take him if we both launched but from a 5mph rolling start he had me!

In my rev2 running 300 bhp i never lost a race on the road lost a fair few times down at the pod lol. Beat m3s all the time and a 911 nasp and countless chessy boy racers.

In the new beast only had a couple of racers and so far when i finally come onto boost everybody suddenly looks like there going backwards love it
