[Mk2] [Turbo] Nur spec query..

Post by Spittinflames »

Right im in 2 minds on what to do with this exhaust, at them moment i really want something quite but i know as soon as i get rid i'll want it back.

I've got the baffle but 2 things bug me about this,

1. It looks stupid having a peashooter hole out the back of such a big exhaust (But i may have an idea to solve that, spray the baffle black)

2. Now this is the really buggy one and i need your help..... The rattle... the bloody rattle of the baffle when its inserted drives me insane, anyone got any serious tips on how to cure this.

I rekon if i can get it to stop rattling permenantly then ill be happy with the nur...... So any ideas?

I don't know much about baffles. Is it the fixing pin or the baffle that rattles?

I just think its the actual baffle that rattles... Obviously its metal on metal so the fit will never be perfect enough to stop the rattle, sooooo a diy job is needed... it only has 1 screw going threw the exhaust and baffle.

As for the swap..... pop a pic up of it and ill have a think :)

Do you know how much play there is? Would a bit of aluminium foil wrapped around do the job, if suitable?

Strange, I put mine in yesterday for the very first time, and it doesn't rattle at all :? In fact, it was actually a tight fit in the tail pipe (tight fit with the largest part of the bung, obviously) I had fun and games getting the damn thing in, and then lining the two holes up for the bolt lol.

Silly question, but did you do the bolt up nice and tight (I know you will have, but I'm just checking)? Other than that, the only thing I can think of is to loosen the bolt and move the bung around a little and then try again...The inside pipe of the bung is quite long, if you haven't got the larger part of the bung "square" to the interior of the tail pipe of the exhaust, there's a chance it'll "droop" inside the rear silencer and rattle. Sorry, it's hard to explain in words lol.

hth :)

1: When you say a pea shooter... You are putting it in the correct way? Its just you can bearly see it with the baffle in? (I have seen it done before)

2: If Its in the wrong way round it will rattle, if not where the outer rim is that sits in the exhaust, give it a tap with a hammer, makes it slightly harder to get in and out but does not rattle at all.

How the hell do you put it in backwards?
You sure we are on about the same thing here... cause when mine gos in the exhaust it quite easy to see.... plus its really shiney.

So no one else has this problem :-k

Mine is black so you cant really see it, how long you had it on for?
What ecu you running? Turn the fuel up! get some sutt on it! It does fit both ways. Try with the hammer, always works.

Just looked at my tailpipe (oh er misses) and it's not completely round, which explains why it was such a git to put in.

The hammer trick sounds like it might work though......

You'll find that the rattle along with the shiny look of the baffle will go once some carbon builds up on it :) I have only fitted mine twice and its as black as a hat now lol

That could be it....... Add another couple of screw/bolts, it will meen drilling two more holes in your Nur tail pipe though but it should fix it :thumleft:
