Rear wheel arch repair Panels

Post by S A Watt »

8) Hi folks

I have recently joined the forum and need a bit of advice on the rear arch panels.

I have owned my Mk1 b for a year but have a few bubbles in the rear quarter Arches and they have been filled before so will get the arches replaced in winter.

The club recommended supplier JDG are £80 for the arch panel per side but other suppliers are a lot cheaper.

I may also put on panel C however if it needs it once the paint is stripped in order to make it right for a long time.

This is £30 per side.

Can we mix and match between suppliers or has anyone used anyone else other than JDG and are the panels good.

I know this may have been discussed before so sorry folks but need to know. :P

Just had my rear arches done in August bought from Eurosport £142 for left and right rear arches that included postage.

May be worth a look depends on how much you wish to spend

Note they do two sorts the other ones have a wider lip

If like me you don't want to spend much, try Mk3 Fiesta rear arches (pattern part). Someone told me they fit. Do they? :)

I don't know about Fiesta arches but Nissan Cherry arches are a popular substitute at around the £12 mark each.

Datsun arches: £12 each side.

Give them to a half decent body shop and they'll come out pretty smart.

Paint still need to be finished with rubbing compound, t-cut etc, so a bit pimply at the mo, but you get the idea from the pics. Panels aren't perfectly flat, but I'm happy with it - better than the rust, and my car was never gonna win any concours competitions...

Also the Volvo 340 arches fit a treat. Available from Beavers Panels for around £10.00

The Datsun Cherry arches can be got from the same place.
