TRD V6 - Yay or Nay?

Hi

I dont know if this is going to be a touchy subject, but im interested in buying a genuie TRD car if i can convince the missus to let me use our house deposit cash.

As the engine is only lightly tuned, what are peoples thoughts on changing for the 3ltr V6 camry conversion? (i was going to do this anyway on mine)

Is it just plain wrong to mess with a TRD car in this way and should i be shot for thinking about it or should i do it and see what a monster i can make of it? It would be unique no?

I know this is a serious investment but I missed out on Shafs rep and these aren't going to come up that often.

Thoughts please.

Hell no as I believe the TRD turbo is moocho uprated over the standard turbo.

You'd seriously decrease performance if thats the case!

To be totally honest, to take a genuine TRD and take it's life force out and replace it with a Camry V6 would be sacrelige.

TRD's are scarce enough as it is...

Not to mention it would be cheaper to by a heap, TRD kit and V6 transplant!

Say £1,500 for a sturdy but tatty n/a, £4k for the kit, couple on the engine and you'd have a showroom car due to it being fully resprayed when the kit goes on.

Wonderful !!!! Spend lots of money to buy a high value limited edition and then spend more money converting it, hence removing the genuine engine out of the genuine limited edition, hence end up spending loads of money to turn it into an odity and drastically reduce it's value.

No need to be sorry. There's a reason he's doing it to a mk1 and not a mk2 though.... it "fits" in the mk1... There is actually less space in the mk2 according to Mr Woods.

thought the TRD cars came with fully blueprinted engines in them?
if so yeah put a V6 in ill take your old engine for £500

IIRC they're aprox 300 - 330 bhp!

So lets downgrade to sub 200

I was under the impression that a lot of the TRD's were customer ordered and so the power output depended on what the customer could afford. Hence why some rolled out with 500bhp+ and yet others came with pretty standard Rev2 engines...

Personally if I had the money to blow on a TRD I would wait for a high engine spec'd one to come along (if it ever did) on the basis that I would want to keep it "original". I probably wouldn't want to part cash with a TRD that happened to have had a bum deal in terms of the engine.

CADAVER - if it really is house deposit money then the best advice I can give is to spend it on a house, because second hand cars often come down in price, but second hand houses rarely do.

Its also difficult enough to live in a standard car, let alone a two-seater collectable!
