Damn Ebay!!!

Post by System-G »

Well I just found out I gone and won the bidding on a pretty "OK condition for age" C-Reg MKI with 116 000 miles 8)

It just needs discs and pads all round for MOT and then new arches for the front (backs have previously been done, but not well - still treatable). Also needs a new splitter.

The top (bonnet, roof, engine bay lid and spoiler) could do with a respray, but other than that she's good. Interior is unmarked.

It's good to back in MR2 ownership :D I really missed RWD after I had to sell my Rev3 and replaced it with an old Corolla GTi.

She will do nicely as a restoration project whilst I prepare myself for another Rev3+

More to follow once I have collected the car

I think so.

I saw the car on the weekend and was worth every penny I bid.

Initially I was happy to pay upto £500 for something in it's condition, but when viewing the owner said he would pull it off ebay if I offered him £400 (after hagling). He also said I could take my chances on bidding as he would honour the winning bid. I took my chance on ebay I won it for much less than £400 8)

Mind you I think it will it will cost me about £300 - £350 to get it MOTd and Taxed...

If the body work is completely knackered (i.e needs too much work for MOT) I already have someone willing to buy it from me for the same as what I paid (Independant Toyota Specialist).
So it was a low risk auction for me

Sounds like a good deal.

And err Snap! I have one exactly the same, though i'm missing those rubbing strips at the moment!

I'm guessing you paid somewhere just over the £300 mark? Sounds about right. Mine was £350 though it had receipts for a replacement engine fitted a couple of years prior and i knew it was mechanically good.

Has cost me £860 to get all the body repair work done.

Cheers People 8)

Toni - The sides were re-sprayed not too long ago (IIRC it was 2 years ago) The top is very faded, but hoping some T-Cut will bring back a bit of shine until I get the funds to respray. It will need new front wings/arches and a front splitter (lower lip) as these are severely corroded. So spraying will be needed there as well.

Lauren - I saw the photos of the work you had done it looks really good 8)
I paid just under the £300 mark  But either the seller didn't know what he could get for it if he replaced the brake pads and discs (all he said was needed for an MOT) with a 12 month ticket or there is more than what meets the eye as far as whats required for an MOT. I am hoping it's just the brakes so I can start enjoying it :D

It has the original engine with 116000 miles on it.
