Rev 2 tubby keeps stalling

Post by Steve Flynn »

My girlfriends dads rev 2 tubby keeps stalling. It starts OK and will run fine, but when it is warm and pulling up to the light for example, the revs go down to about 500 rpm then it stalls. Apart from that it runs lovely.
This only started to happen after the battery was replaced. Didn't know if it might have something to do with resetting the ECU or whether the battery is not good enough for the car. We have checked the AFM and that is not clogged. Does anyone know what rating the battery should be for a tubby?

Where did you get the battery from? I had the same problems but a new battery from Halfords fixed it..

Failing that it might be that your TPS is knackered and needs adjusting/replacing. The BGB shows how to check it.

When you took the battery off mate it will have reset the ECU which will make the idle about 500 rpm temporarily. If theres no improvement in a few days then have a look at your ignition components ie plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm. If all is well there's a screw on top of the throttle which can be turned out to raise the idle but TBH it should be ok if it was running well before.

Try that and let us know
