Hi all,
Just like to say that i own an 86 black 1a uk car with air con which is a toyota system not a retro fit, could this make mine the only uk car with air con as standard?
Any clues?

Not so much rare as unheard of in a UK car.

Is it climate control or just AC?

I want to upgrade my car with an automatic a/c.
Are there anybody who already fitted an a/c for aw11?
What kind of parts do I need for the swap?
Thanks Daniel

Air con was available as a VERY expensive option in uk mk1s.
(read as 'no-one bothered', but if they went for the expensive black paint option and had money to burn, they i guess they could afford the air con option too, maybe cd player too?)

I remember seeing it as an option in the dealer price list when I bought my red one in late 1986. Pretty sure I still have the documents in my pile of bits back home. Was about 2 grand IIRC, pretty prohibitive at the time.

Seeing as how I lived in Scotland back then there weren't too many times I wished I had it. Now in Tokyo in summer I'd die of heatstroke without it....

We have had several mk1's at the garage over the years that were all UK spec mk1a's with AC as standard... they all had the same Pinewood Toyota dealership sticker in the back window which leads us to believe only this dealer supplied AC as an optional extra for UK cars.

Incase anyone wants it I have a spare AC pump I dont want - would rather it got recycled and used on another car then getting tipped.

Dont have the other bits though, just the pump.
