[Mk2 Turbo] Tuned at Thor, Results are in!

Post by nutter »

Well I've just got back from Thor. It's been a day and a half but i've finally got some figures i'm pleased with.

Mods of note :

Rev 2 engine, Ross forged pistons, Port and polished head, rev 3 inlet cam.

ATS td06
Wolfkatz fuel rail, 800cc injectors, Walbro pump, aeromotive FPR.
Radtec Chargcooler

And.....

344BHP @ 6143 RPM at the hubs
322lbft @ 5080 at the hubs

at 1.7 bar

Heres the graph:

Image

I'm really happy with torque, it puts my mind at ease about the supposed lagginess of the TD06!

Thanks to everyone who has helped me get this far. Special thanks to Andi and Mark for helping me go through the car on saturday :)

Managed to give it a bit of stick on the way home and managed to blow the CC pipe to throttle body clean off! TOOOO much booooost!

Very nice Dean =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Is that the 1st test for the Radtec CC? (and did you push it for more boost :D)

Had the CC pipe blow off on mine once while giving it some and my heart sank when the boost needles returned to 0 - It's nice when it's something simple

...at 15psi I bet it's still making 250/260bhp.

Run it at 15psi for that beautiful engine longevity and reliability and whack up to 25 for supercar baiting! \:D/

Nice build mate, good to see the right mods in there.... =D>

Greeny :

Can't say too much on the radtec at the mo but suffice to say it did what it was supposed to do and more :)

[sig]

TD06 rocks! I'm sure other turbos would produce the numbers, but i hope this dispells the lag myth that is associate with these turbos!

Andy,

I don't think its the first test for the radtec, but it is the highest numbers produced i believe,

I was worried about pushing the turbo out of it's efficiency range so didn't want to push her to 2 bar. I'll do some research on this!

Luthor1,

Plenty of fuel and plenty of cooling, thats the key my friend!

I have the boost solonoid on a switch, with it off i get about 12 psi....... I'm not the switch will get used much thou :)

I'm a firm believer in the KISS rule Harry : Keep It Simple Stupid :)

I might get an AVCR so i can adjust the boost. I have the Link ECU which controls everything (including flat shift and launch control  )

Cool, Make sure you get a decent pump and fuel rail (if you've got a rev 1/2) and you'll be flying too! For reference at that power my injectors were at 70% duty.
