Car Hacks & Mods for Dummies

Post by JeffD »

Just bought this book for £9.79 from Amazon (£14.99 from book shops). The ISBN is 0-7645-7142-7.

Initially my eye was caught by the picture of an MR2 on the front cover and after a quick flick through the pages I noticed that the author actually owns an MR2. Very informative book covering all aspects of tuning whether it be cosmetic, how turbos etc work, re-mapping ECU's - in fact all sorts of useful stuff. Full of sensible advice - defy anyone to read it and not learn something. Anyway thats my 2penneth...

If you search the www.mr2oc.com USA forum... I think you will find the author was a regular member.

I recall the book coming up as a thread a year or two back

Your welcome! Not sure whether it will be to everyones taste though - cuts through a lot of the myths about tuning and explains why some of the popular modifications are a waste of time and money. Good book if you want whats best for the car though rather than just posing! ;-')

Under-rated book. I've owned it since ealy last year. It presents wise advice & details without insulting you like some of those 'Dummies' series have a tendency to do.

It even has some specific brand name recommendations. IMO, at that price it's a must-have for tuners.

That was the first 'tuning' book I bought, good book and an easy read (very important for techy books).
