anyone running 9.5j rims on rear?

Post by eddy simpson »

would these fit with standard suspension? Im already running 18x8j on the rear with a bit of space either side. the rims are vermont chrome 35m offset but ive just ordered the same rims with a 9.5 deep dish for the rear and was told they would fit but probably need to roll the arch.
if anyone has wide rims what tyre are you using?

Ive got 17" 9J rears on a 35 offset. They physically fit fine but rub against the arch lips on track - I got mine rolled and also had to grind off a few seams inside the arches.

On the road I doubt it would be a problem though.

I used my local bodyshop, davylynsbodyshop.co.uk - however it wasnt a straightforward arch roll because I wanted some extra room. They actually rolled and pulled out the arches to give me enough clearance on track.

The whole job, including doing both rear arches, both front arches (235x40x17's) came to £700, but he did have to re-spray both front wings and rear quarter panels.

Im sure you could do it cheaper and for loads less hastle, but even after doing all that the fronts still rub against one of the seams on full lock (after removing the inner arch liner) and the rears still hit various things - an afternoon with an angle grinder seems to have it sorted now though :)

If i'd known how much of a PITA it was going to be I would have left the 215x40 and 235x40's on :)

17x9.5" will need ET42+ for optimum fit. ET35 will rub the fender for sure on a stock setup unless you use slope shouldered tires like 235/40 Dunlops or something of that sort.
