Getting back to the conversions, I had the car mot'd the other day. Even though it has a year 2000 engine it's the age of the car that they go off. If it's regested before Oct 95 then it's does not need a cat. So mine was mot'd without a cat and no need to worry about emissions :D.

Thanks for the information guys the conversion isnt for me but a chap who wants one put into his FE. Should prove interesting. I will definatley be in touch nearer the time as this isnt a conversion I know much about. The V6 definatley sounds like a good approach for those who dont want to go turbo and when you hear the V6 its easy to know why :D

Quite tempted to have a go at this myself on another project car. The earlier iron block sounds good, slap on two big turbo's, forged internals, massive IC, injectors and ECU and it could prove very interesting :D

Cheers

Is the SW20 engine bay the same size or bigger than an AW11 one?? If so then a 1UZ-FE would be sweet!! 8) Do it once do it right :D

the sw20 engine bay is actually smaller between the chassis rails that an aw11 bay...but the mk2 bay is wider (front to back) than a mk1 bay,but not by much....this makes the mk1 a better candidate for a massive engine swap (v8 upwards)

Ah, ok.....that would probably rule the 1UZ out then, it was a REALLY tight fit all around in the AW11 :)

MRV6 wrote:Hi James, yeah had a few cosmetic changes. I had 5 spoke 17's on then and it now has a bomex lip spoiler, I've customised the side vents and added a rev 5 rear wing.

Yes they are top guys @ A.A.S., did they tell you what I just bought mate? If so could you keep it under your'e hat for a bit til we get things sorted. I might have a ride up there tomorrow and have a word with them.

Phil.

Do you have contact details for AAS? I can't seem to find them. I've managed to find one person who's willing to carry out a V6 conversion, but he hasn't done one before. I'd be happier parting with my hard-earned if the person doing the deed had done it before!

Cheers,
Andy (V6 on the way....)

D'oh! Just realised the contact details are on this site. I'll give them a buzz tomorrow. It's a bit of a trek from Bristol, but it'll be well worth it!

What kind of power do these engines pump out in standard form?

May consider doing one of these next year!

there about 185 - 190 depending on year but with the custom manifold/exhaust you need to get made + air filter MRV6 made 210 on the rollers
regardless of the power they make though, you seen the torque curve?

the torque curves are v impressive, the 3vz has a practically vertical curve around 2,500rpm...but loses out at the top end, this is where the 1mz performs better.
