160 or 180 mph aftermarket dials... how does it work??

160 or 180 mph aftermarket dials... how does it work??

im a bit confused with how the after market dials work etc, as there are the options of having 160mph or 180mph dials...

surely if you opt to buy the 180 mph dials, there needs to be some kind of hardware that slows the needle down, other wise at say 140 mph, it will be reading like 165 or something...

is it extra hardware or do you use differnet clocks???

160 mph dials were as standard
180 mph dials are just for those who have changed from 180kph dials (jap spec) and had a converter fitted
you will need to buy the corrresponding dials to match yours there is no easy way of recalibrating for other options

Ive been wondering this for a while also. From what Ive found out you will need to get a set of 180mph dials and purchase a delimeter which changes the reading to mph.

Speedhut do great dials that Im going to get soon and also the delimeter can be found at TwosRus.

i have got the speedhut dials and one thing i will mention (from experience )
make sure and order the uk spec dials they are further down on the options list the us spec ones are back to front (speedo on other side of cluster)

lol, did you order the wrong ones by any chance??

i see how they work now , Thanx! :D

basically, if you dont fit the de-limiter and MPH converter chip, then you use the 160mph dials, as they are basically the same as the std KPH but british!!

and if you Do get the de-limiter, you get the 180mph

The 160mph dials are for cars that were sold in the UK. All jap imports will either use a 110mph or 180mph dial. To use the 180mph you will need a speedo convertor. The 110mph dial will go straight in with no convertor. Hope thats a bit clearer :|

i had a jap tubbie with 110mph sticker on it bought a twosrus delimiter £60 and 180mph speedhut dials for about £80 everything works ok had the car runnin at speeds of 140+ on private track of course O:) :whistle:
