I've had two sets fail on me from speed bumps (not sure the replacement was any good to be honest), mechanic told me the part isn't the best quality. Not sure how true that is.
Having said that, any recommendations for better ones? And do I need to replace the springs and shocks at the same time or are they all compatible?

Which topmounts did you buy? If I didn't have my TRD ones I'd be going for the oem toyota ones, but I'm not sure if they make em anymore.

They were both OEM I think, but the replacements were second hand.
TRD work with OEM shocks and springs?

It's not worth it buying second hand ones as they are rubber and like bushings will have perished over time.
TRD's are identical in design to the standard Toyota ones just apparently made from slightly stiffer rubber. Also discontinued.
Aside from toyota the other option I'd say would be KYB ones

KYB are a big suspension oem company and more than likely make the toyota branded topmounts anyway.

Genuine new original ones are decent... Just fitted new ones to mine, and they've been on for 133k and still weren't that bad but was renewing everything else so did them all as well.

Any pattern part that's not eBay China will be just fine.
Old parts that are 20+ years old just aren't economically viable these days.

Yeah pretty much, oem toyota or any one thats made by a major oem style company (kyb bilstein etc) is gonna be fine.
Cheap unbranded ones will be crap

You can buy NOS TRD top mounts from Fensport still for less than the price of new oem ones. Well, certainly the fronts (the fronts are the same throughout the revs and compatible with all struts as far as I'm aware).
I know because my parents live in Chatteris (the town Fensport are based) and I went in about 3 weeks ago and picked up a pair of fronts myself. I also got oem struts, bump stops and dust covers, top caps and pattern standard springs from TCB to entirely refresh the front end and I'm picking it up all done tomorrow.
In my case strut casings and springs were all very very corroded but still working well but I figured if we have to get to the topmounts anyway I may as well future proof the lot rather than perhaps take it all apart another year or two down the line.
Rear end next year.

Hmmm I wonder if they still have some rear ones.

Alex Wilhelm sells some
https://wilhelmraceworks.com/coilover-top-mounts
But they're expensive, and in the US.

Those don't work on normal struts though.
I bought a set for my H&R coilovers up front so I could get more clearance and camber. You couldn't get them on with the standard top nut, he's added some thinner style topnuts now but they werent available when i bought em.
