rev2 vs rev3 decat

Post by hjscmh »

Hi all!

I bought a decat from someone with a pretty bad reputation on here recently without knowing his history. my car is a rev2 turbo and he sent me a decat stating that the rev2 and rev3 decat is the same. I am booked in at my local specialist tomorrow, but after reading what people have said about him on here id like to double check.

He didn't actually say what rev the car came from but stated that the rev2 and 3 are the same anyway is that right?

I have it going on a hks superdragger exhaust, can anyone see any issue before i drive the 60 mile trip? lol

No they are completely different. The 2 cars use different turbos.

Rev 3 CT20b turbo has an additional stud on the exhaust side of the turbo where the decat bolts up to it.

Rev 3+ CT20b - 7 stud
Rev 1/2 CT26 - 6 stud

whilst the turbos are different, the decat should still bolt up fine.

i have a rev3+ engine.
it came with a ct26 hybrid (rev1/2 hybrid turbo) and decat.
ive since fitted a ct20b (standard rev3) with the same decat, no problems.

the decat i have is a berk decat.

JimGTS is the winner.

no one managed to reply in time so i made the trip anyway. and it turned out the downpipe was from either a rev1 or 2 anyway and fit perfectly fine. However my mechanic who is a specialist in only mr2s says the rev2 and rev3 downpipe should be interchangeable if anyone else is interested.

I don't want to say who sold it to me in case he's still lingering about on here under a new username, but he has been banned many times lol[/quote]

You had a fairly quick couple of replies there, and JimGTS came through within 24 hours, no slouching there…

Anyway, he's done the right thing this time it's just a shame he has let lies and greed get in the way of having a decent reputation. You can bet he's got more than one profile running around the forums.

it's definitely a real shame about his reputation. I have not bought much from him, and hes not done me wrong aside from the pressure selling when i was looking to buy a new 2.

Whilst they are interchangeable some designs for the rev3 will foul the oil filter on a rev1/2
