Air con condenser info

Post by ryanaj79 »

Hi all, just wondered if anyone has any knowledge regarding air con condensers?
Mine has started leaking at the bottom, so air con re-gas doesnt last much past a month. It's a rev 4 turbo.

I was goin to look for a replacement, then remembered I have a 2nd hand one I bought couple years ago, to replace one on my previous mr2 turbo (tho sold the car before using it).
I read on one forum that rev1/2 and rev3+ might be slightly different, but hoping that this one will fit on mine. Though I cant remember wat revision the car was it came from.
cant see any part munbers on it, but pictures look identical.

It looks from the EPC that the AC Condenser part number is the same on all Japanese models but on later UK revisions the part number changed.

ahh, cheers for that, didnt realise the jap parts might all be same.
Will take a shot at using it, as I got it cheap. Hopefully it will work, as dont want to spend over £300 on a new one.
Before I do it though, is it possible to seal any cracks at the bottom of a condenser and salvage my current one?
I can see the green dye at the bottom of it where it leaked.

Order one from Rockauto.

Genuine Denso for half the price.

If your using a 2nd have condenser or one that has been sitting about for a while I'd definitely take it to an AC place & ask them to flush it through with something before you use it.

Also, if using a new or flushed condesner , add a few cc's of oil to it before fitting - details are in the Toyota repair manuals. I can't remember the name of the oil used but I got it cheap on eBay at the time (same stuff as used in many old Rovers with Denso compressors iirc). Don't forget new o rings too!

I recently bought a new Denso from Rock Auto couldn't believe how cheap it was, in Aus they would want a kidney for one!
