[Mk2] [Generic] Anyone with 17" Rota Torque Wheels? Help needed please!!

Post by Chumbaside »

Fellow IMOC'ers, I need your help!

I'm thinking of getting a set of staggered Rota Torque wheels, 17x8 ET35 and 17x9 ET35 but need to know that they will clear my big brakes..

If you are running these wheels, would you be kind enough to measure:

- distance from front disc face to rear face of front wheel
- internal diameter of a front wheel

Thanks to whoever is able to help :thumleft:

Cheers,

Mark

I don't have those wheels but I know your dilemma having Porsche 996 calipers up front. I did find the topic below however that seem to suggest all ok? Any alloy retailers near you that could try a wheel for size? As the thread suggests it's the spoke design you need to be careful of too, it could foul the caliper whereas a different style would clear ok

Thanks for that, it's helpful. I spoke to the guys at Driftworks and although they don't keep the wheels on site (no shop as such) they were confident that Rota, JR and Work wheels in 17" would all clear easily.

They also confirmed that Rota D2 would not (as someone mentioned on another thread) as they have a dish and not a lot of pad.

Looking like Rota Torques are favourite :thumleft:

they do look nice for sure, pity the 7.5 x 17 is only a 45 offset. That'd be a great size in a 25 or 30 offset. If the dealer is saying they're confident the wheels will fit then they should be ok taking them back if they dont actually fit :) What brake kit are you running, some calipers are pretty narrow compared to others?

Rota torque 17x17.5 (45 offset) here. I would recommend a lower offset if you can (35)

There is loads of room around the stock caliper/discs

I don't have exact measurements.

Do you still need measurements?

I have these rims in the offsets and widths your listing so I can check for you.

I'll go for 17x8 and 17x9, both in ET35. My Advans are this size and sit nice and flush with no rubbing or clearance issues.

I'm running 200sx callipers on 323mm Supra discs.

you're changing from Advans? Usually the other way round :D . Nice brakes, plenty of feel from that setup :thumleft:

I know, that's why I'm hesitating! Just not feeling the whole three-spoke thing and as I need new track tyres it's a good opportunity to consider the options :thumleft:
