west midlands. bit of help request

Post by andy17898 »

Hi folks. My tbar is leaking badly. Have heavy condensation on the inside of the windscreen every day aswell as a wet seat. I cant afford new seals.

When i siliconed my bath i covered myself in the stuff. Anyone wanna give me a hand for a couple of beers?

Have you bought the eccentric guides ? Takes 20 seconds a side and fixed mine instantly - no faffing with silicone needed.

They're T bar rod guides with an offset hole that pull the glass tighter against the seal.

Can I hijack this a little bit? My t-bar leaks a little in the rain so I've tried the coax trick and silicon method, the latter worked great but didn't seem to last. After reading this thread I ordered some of these yesterday and they arrived this morning. This may be a silly question but have I put them in right?

I'd say so mate, if the hole is lower, the rod is lower and so should the t bar rubber and glass. Should mean a tighter fit.

From what I've read, they face inwards and down towards the transmission tunnel, as in the pic above. :thumleft:

Yes mate, I used a small flat screwdriver to pry out the old ones and then just pushed the new ones in. The T-bar glass is a lot tighter to fit and there's been quite a bit of rain here since I fitted mine and I've had no leaks at all :thumleft:
