My standard gear knob needs replacing, the coating is coming away and feels horrible.
Any recommendations for something close to stock type of shape?

TRD leather ball. Just bought a brand new one. 1/3 the price of a new one from Mr T and looks great:

£37 inc delivery for a gear knob isn't expensive.
Stock Toyota rev3 one is nearly £100.
I couldn't be ar$ed ordering one from Japan, so bought one new in the ebay link provided above. Had it delivered within 2 days.

I bought a Rev 3 gear lever mech, that came with a mint condition standard one.

I've had a Trd ball knob and don't like it to be honest, its a lot smaller than Standard. You're welcome to it for a Tenner if you fancy.
I've now got a standard knob recovered by Rhon and its great, feels and looks the business! I actually got the knob, gear gaiter and handbrake gaiter done for I think around £45.

Anyone know of any good tall ones?
Say like 7-9cm? (Not the tall trd one)
I really like the stock shifter, but looking for something taller.

I've got my TRD one on a 4" shaft extender ( ) I hate the standard location of the gear knob, far too stubby and close to the centre console. raising it up puts it in a much more natural position, closer to the steering wheel and with a quick shift the throw is similar to stock.
if i was to replace it it would be with something like this

yeh ive seen tall TALL ones, but seem quite OTT. half that sort of height but same style id be happy with, just a case of hunting one down.
Re: New Gear knob - Looking for recommendations
Thanks all, i saw the refurbs from Rhon but couldn't see anything after 2012. The one from revolve automotive in Cheshire looks nice as well.
I spotted the TRD one when looking around, nearly pushed the button but still like the feel of the standard shape.
Is Rhon available via a PM?

I've got a TRD ball - will be up for sell shortly though as I ordered a Carbing knob last week. Mmm, knurled. I went for gold to match my wheels because I'm classy that way.

yes, there's two different types though - there's the plain black/white ones with TRD lettering on the sides, or the ones with the red TRD gel badge on the top
both are around JPY 4000 (£23-ish) before shipping

Re: New Gear knob - Looking for recommendations
I'd recommend the TRD ball one - feels really nice. I had a "long" one before that and it just didn't feel right, I think the MR2 suits the shorter knobs considering how raised the lever is
