That's what i've been trying to tell you Alex, the numbers are nothing to do with the piston position, the caps are numbered to the rods in pairs..... so you see you must have them on the wrong ones.

Another thing to note, according to the BGB bearings should be installed with the oil hole on the conrod side. The one in the pic has it on the cap side. :-k

Well spotted, that's more than something to note, Alex that's a major installation mistake, your gudgeon pin on the little end won't have been getting any oil feed at all.

The bearing shells that came out of my engine have holes in each shell so one will end up in the cap.

If both shells have a hole then it's ok.

My crankshaft has been repaired now.
