Boost pressure stuck

Post by Martin F »

My boost pressure seems to be stuck between 1.34 and 1.41 bar of boost.
neither high or low boost makes a difference, i even turned the boost controller off :?
I then fitted my other controller and exactly the same happens, anybody have any idea where to start looking ?

Could it have something to do with the spring in the external wastegate ? i would imagine one of these to be pretty bullet proof though....

cheers :thumleft:

Start by unplumbing the boost solenoid (not just disconnecting it).

OK, first i found a boost vacuum pipe not attached to anything, (this will be why my boost controller is under reading.)
Secondly i found that the top bolt for the tial external wastegate has worked itself loose and is missing...

Anybody know where i can get another bolt from, i don't even know what thread it is, obviously is has a hole inside it for the air pressure....

any help with getting the correct bolt would be great :thumleft:

Found this, bit much for a bolt, anybody know the thread size etc. as i can buy locally or online for a much more reasonable price

*edit* Just decided to bite the bullet and buy the above, on checkout they wanted £6.37 plus vat for posting a bolt, so defo not buying it from them :(

will maybe take the other one off this weekend and go to a local bolts place :-k

From the (albeit tiny photo) it looks like a 10mm banjo bolt? A local hardware place etc isn't likely to stock them.

A quick google brings this up:

As said though, that's only if it's a banjo bolt, and of the correct size (thread diameter) and pitch (distance between the thread peaks).

The tial banjo bolts are M10 x 1.0mm thread, 22mm long measured from the end of the bolt to the underside of the head. The central orifice is ~6.3mm diameter.
