Rev 2 with chargecooler.

Post by jjarman »

Hi guys, looking at a rev 2 with a chargecooler (I think from a GT4?)

Would upload a pic, but forum wont let me \:D/

Is this chargecooler a good upgrade, or better off with standard intercooler do you think?

It's running a ct26b, and as far as I can tell is pretty much stock.

Would making 260bhp be a bit optimistic with just a boost controller and fuel cut?

Cheers

Sounds nice bud , how much is it ? shame you cant post some pics till you hit 15 posts, i'd love to see it .

Chargecoolers a great upgrade, better than an intercooler . . . ct20b plus boost control and fuel cut removed 260+ is very very doable .. with fuel cut inplace not sure what max power figure is , sorry.

I missed it unfortunately :/ It went for £2200 (absolute steal)

Looked really nice too. Was a CT26b, CT20b seems to be a nightmare to get hold of?? I'm coming from Rover turbos, and the upgraded turbo there (garrett T28) is fairly easy to get hold of.

I'm sure there must be someone out there willing to part with a black TBar rev2/3 :D

I would personally wait for a rev3+ to come up as they offer lots more potential in power. You can always add a chargecooler at a later stage :D
I plan to add one to mines but im on a budget at the moment, new company and new house
Will be doing a big build on mines, bigger turbo, chargecooler, forged engine at some point again hopefully

There's mine (if it will show!). Needs some work doing on it though.

Can you clear up what turbos these acually have??? Some saying CT26, some CT20, some CT20b, some hybrid CT26!

Need to figure out how to install my turbo timer etc now (have no idea xD)

the 185 had a CT26 and the ST205 has the CT20B (or what ever it is actually called.)

A turbo timer simply sits between a wire on the ignition and delays shutdown of the engine.

FYI they can invalidate your insurance and make it more expensive. I've removed them from all my cars. You simply just need to not drive like a complete nutter for the last couple of minutes + have a good ester synth oil.

The turbo that should be fitted to your car is a ct20b (internet nick name) I think its really cauld a ct26 (small) ct262c .

Thanks for the comments guys :D

Here's another pic (again sorry I can't link it properly)

They are the seller's images, will clean it and get my own tomorrow now that easter is here!

Does have some gremlins unfortunately. The clutch and hydraulics have just been changed and it's really hard to get into gear - reallly hoping it's the hydraulics and not the clutch being assembled wrongly!

Also there is play in the steering, so some money to be spent there. I got it at a good price though, so I should have plenty for repairs.

Paid 2.3k for it, I would have been willing to pay more if the suspension and clutch were 100 percent.

Bodywork is pretty much where it needs to be, and quite a few recent parts gone into it.

Overall I'm happy with it :thumleft:

Clutch fixed today

After a lot of searching and playing with the hydraulics we managed to sort it.

Now to the steering, reckon all the expensive suspension jazz is going to want replacing!
