it is because the pipes are not securely mounted and in danger of rubbing against the wheel? Couple of cable ties if need be but the fronts should fit in the clips already there and be ok at that, the rears are missing the body bracket :(

got more info, apparently it's this pin on the tip of the circle bit that is missing:

how do you get around this? as the hel and the mlr and goodridge don't seem to have it?

Which section of the MOT did it fail under?

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_360.htm

The only things I can see that might apply:

2. Check all components for security, condition and operation.
2. A braking system component:
d. retaining or locking device missing or insecure.

or

3. Check all braking system components for any inappropriate repair or modification
3. A braking system component inappropriately repaired or modified.

They shouldn't fail an MOT though providing they are securely mounted, not corroded (HEL are stainless so that's not an issue), not twisted or otherwise incorrectly installed or damaged.

this is the first time they have failed in 4 years. The mot guy said the pin is missing to secure the lines into place. Not sure which code it failed on 2.d, maybe?. They are secured in place not hanging or anything, but just this pin issue?

I've got my mot on Thursday morning and have hel lines fitted all round, I'll let you know how I get on with it.
BTW the lines are clamped where they connect to the fixed line using a home made bracket

that pin will stop the line turning on the caliper but then so does a securely tightened banjo bolt. Mmm not sure on the fail for that..

The pin does not locate or secure the hose to the caliper, the banjo bolt does that. The pin aligns the hose.

Since there is nothing in the MOT tester's manual regarding hose alignment, it's not a fail.

Appeal or go elsewhere. Simples.
