Suspension replacement and poly bush questions

Post by Lunarmatic »

Hi,

I'm planning to have new shocks, springs and bushes fitted to my SC as soon as I can. I phoned a local place (Toyota specialist) to get a quote for doing the work and they said £250 for doing the shocks and springs which seems ok to me.

Regarding the bushes though, they said it wouldn't make much of a difference (to the cost) if I had those done at the same time or at a later date. However, they did say that I should check to see whether there's a poly bush in the set for the top of the strut since this would need to be fitted with the new shocks. They also said I might need new top mounts.

So my questions are:

Is it better/worse to do the shocks and springs before/after the bushes or should they all be done at the same time?

Is it likely I'll need new top mounts?

Should the bush at the top of the strut be changed for a poly one?

Do poly bush kits come with a tool to help fit them? (The garage asked me this)

Thanks for any light you can shed on the matter!

Cheers
Andrew
