Nippon Autospares?

Post by SonicSW20 »

Just spotted this on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-CELICA ... 3a9124b80b

Always fancied a BEAMS engine'd MR2! Has anyone had any experience with the supplier though?

That would need some modification to fit as it is from a celica. Probably the same one my mate just sold for £1000 about 6weeks or so ago come to think of it.

Personally i think the Beams is totally pointless for a roadcar anyway simply for the fact there is no real low down power and really only track cars sit above 4000revs constantly to take advantage of Vvti unless of course thats what you want it for?

On the other hand It is fun with the vvti when it kicks in but i wouldnt be in a hurry to get one again

I had my finger on the buy button on this engine but turns out all the intake pipework is missing, Which on this engine is a big deal as the air flow sensor is very sensitive to the pipework diameters and shapes around the sensor. Toyota no longer stock the housing the sensor sits in and there's little to no chance of ever finding a second hand one. Not impossible to work arround but you'll need to fiddle arround shimming down the pipe diameters of some custom pipework etc and need a rolling road session to get it running right. More cost to an already somewhat over priced engine.
Rogue also told me that apparently Nippon often re-use adverts which state exacly the same milages on multiple engines.
