[Mk2] [Turbo] Engine Compartment Cooling Fan Warning Light

Post by hobo »

hi all,
My drive belt broke on the way home form work and i drove 10 miles at low speed to get home. i had a bit trouble getting the air con belt off as the top pully had a rounded nut therefore i cut the ac belt off in order to replace the drive belt. I thought that the car would run ok with this air con belt off but on first start up the Engine Compartment Cooling Fan Warning Light stays on but all other lights are off. this light first came on when the belt broke.

Can anyone help with ideas what could be wrong? do i need to replace the ac belt to remove the light? will the car run ok without this belt?

Thanks in advance.
:)

A/C belt not required for engine bay fan to function correctly.

Start by checking wiring from engine to fan is not damaged.
