Cambelt Cog

Post by SuperRedMR2 »

Hi,

I've removed my cambelt tensioner and now I need to remove the cambelt cog wheel.

It's not coming off very well.

I cannot get a puller behind it.

Any ideas?

Cheers

That's a fun one. IIRC I got a pair of screwdrivers behind it and gently levered it out until I could get a puller onto it.

I'm going down the screwdriver/chisel route with not much going on. Can't get a hammer on either as there is just no room to manoeuvre it!

If you can get some plusgas/penetrating oil into the woodruff ket slot that sometimes helps it slide off.

Yup there's not a lot of space to faff about down there. From what I remember (been a few years) if you don't get the pressure even in both sides it can jam, so a little tap back in with a big deep socket (30mm one) helps straighten it out and also loosen it up.

By cambelt cog wheel do you mean the cam gears or the pulley on the main crank? The pulley has two threaded holes on the spokes to take a puller and the cam gears can usually be prised off with a proper pry bar then a puller as already suggested.
