[Mk2] [NA] Rev5 Central Locking

Post by SonicSW20 »

Hi all,

Before I delve into this on the weekend, I'd like to get your opinions on where the problem is likely to be.

The central locking in my Rev5 doesn't work. The remote fob works, it locks and unlocks the drivers door. The alarm arms and disarms correctly, and works correctly. The security light flashes so I assume the immobiliser is working, though that's a hard one to test properly.

I reckon it's going to be a wiring issue somewhere. Any other thoughts?

Oh, I replaced the drivers side window / mirror controls as the auto up wasn't working. That sorted it, and as the door locking electricals run through that I thought it might fix the central locking too - it didn't.

And I assume all Rev5's actually had central locking?

Does passenger lock lock/unlock when using the key in driver's door?

And opposite test using key in passenger lock?

They key opens the drivers door - passenger door stays locked. The same key opens the passenger door on it's own. Also does the boot fine etc.

had something similar, mine turned out to be a broken wire in the door loom
If you see an MR2 with a raised engine cover, the bottom line is it's probably faster than your car.

That was my first thought as everything else is working correctly. Looks like me and my multimeter are going to be best friends this weekend!

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the system?

The problem is mechanical. I can hear the central locking servo trying to move.

Going to try cleaning / lubricating joints, if that doesn't work I'll swap it out for my Rev4 mechanisms is possible.
