Hi all, hopefully this isn't covering old ground... I know safe boost on a rev3+ is 17/18psi with the right mods.....I have a Greddy intercooler, Nur Spec and Blitz induction already.
But I have a forged engine, rebuilt CT20b with steel shaft and 360 degree thrust bearing, and want to know what's the next restriction from upping the boost safely to 19/20+ psi?
I still have the stock ECU.
Is fuelling my next point of upgrade? Pump and injectors?
Cheers, Michael.

Still doubt the OEM will allow more than 1.3 bar regardless if you have a rebuilt engine and turbo

forged pistons make no difference, they won't like knock/det either and with stock turbo and fuelling you will most definitely be getting some with that amount of boost. 17/18 psi is generally regarded as safe with your mods.
along with uprated injectors you'll need a standalone ecu to run them. there was a story on here a few years back of a guy doing exactly what you have done and ruined 4 brand new forged pistons.

So, what I'm asking is then;
Do I need injectors and ECU then to run higher boost?

to run more than 18Psi yeah
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Maximium boost rev3 turbo?
Technically, you can fit a map clamp.
Can run whatever boost you want, check fueling on a dyno, away you go.
No need for injectors and ecu.
You will be restricted by the fueling, but they will flow 340ish hp.
Raise fuel pressure, maybe even more.

What boost have your pistons been desiged to work with?

I think hes talking about a map clamp style fuel cut defender which are fairly rare. Then checking a/f ratios with a wideband I guess and an adjustable fpr.
Seems a bit half ar$ed but it could work I guess.

I actually googled. Seems like something to get rid of fuel cut.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Maximium boost rev3 turbo?
Yep, only way to get rid of fuel cut on the oem rev3+ ecu is a clamp style (voltage) devise for the map sensor. Don't think there is an off the shelf part though. Believe it's adjustable.
People make them, Paul port made a bunch.
I'm just saying it's an option over the expense of a ecu/mapping if you want more boost than 19psi.

10 yrs here and you've never heard of the rev3+ FCD by Paul Port..... I need to get out more

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Maximium boost rev3 turbo?
I have, many many times, never heard it being called a map clamp
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Maximium boost rev3 turbo?
I'm in the same situation as the op.
Rev3
Forged 8.0-1
Hybrid CT20b
St205cc
I've got some 800cc injectors but it will obviously require standalone and since im using an oem excedy clutch im thinking 340bhp would be my safe limit anyway?
Now my car has a paul port fcd. I'm going to fit a 255lph fuel pump and im seriously tempted to get it on the rollers and turn up the boost past 1.2 whilst keeping an eye on the afr. Especially if I could achieve 320-330bhp without knock and safe afr's.
I'm quite happy to keep the Toyota ecu because it's reliable and the error codes can be very useful.

I wouldn't push it mate.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Maximium boost rev3 turbo?
as per my comments from a while ago.
more fuel pressure if needed.
keep temps low.
