[Mk2] [NA] Help - ID these plugs!

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone can help me out here!

I was replacing the front bumper over the weekend on my Rev4 and now the new one's fitted, I've found myself with a couple of plugs just hanging loose that I'll be damned if I can find homes for! The fog lights are connected, as are sidelights and headlights.

I suspect they're just tucked up somewhere but knowing where the other ends come from would be a start. I@ve checked in the passenger's side wing where some cables with similar connectors are running but can't see anything else loose.

Oh yeah - indicators aren't working but not totally sure that's linked.

The far right one isn't the one for the temp sensor on the pas side of the radiator is it?

I had a simliar problem with my indicators. i've got all but the tobe working again.

I have a few plugs that hang down that don't go to anything. I believe one of mine is actually a steering fog one which I don't have.

You might be right about the temp sensor - I'm pretty sure I never unplugged that one so it might well be redundant but I'm sure when I took the bumper off the plug in the first two shots was connected.

The car isn't starting at all - in fact that starter motor isn't even trying to move.

If you turn the key there's a relay click, the headlights fade a bit (tried it at night) but nothing actually happens! Battery volts level seems fine but I might try jumping it anyway just in case you're right and that is supposed to just hang there not being used.

Appreciate the response anyway dude - I'll get there eventually! Just paranoid I've trapped this missing connector somewhere that means taking the bumper off again - was a proper mission the first time!

I didn't realise the car wasn't starting you didn't state that in the initial post.

if you have a multimeter. Check voltage of the battery?? or stick the battery on charge make sure you're getting enough power from the battery. Normally if it just goes click it means the battery is dead or doesn't have enough amperage to turn the starter motor.

Thats what i'd start with then move on to checking voltage at the starter motor when the key is turned making sure it is getting power.

But go with the dud battery first.

taking the bumper off a second time is much easier. Believe me!

If your lights are diming I think 95% that you're battery doesn't have enough amps to crank the engine.

Yeah sorry like a pratt I hadn't actually tried to start it when I wrote the OP!

I'll try a jump and report back, you may well be right - just amazed as it's a good battery and I only had the lights on for 30 mins max while I was messing around with them.

Good luck. Your battery might just have reached the end of its life. It does take a load of amps to turn the starter.

Thanks again for your help chaps - jump started it fine and seems to be running ok! Battery was just totally flat after sitting for a bit with the lights on. Surprising that's all it took (new battery too) but happy it's going.

No idea what those plugs were for but seems on the N/A at least, they're not needed.

Chuffed to bits to be back on the road!
