[Mk2] [NA] Jeep Cherokee Wheels

Post by timmycr90 »

Hi guys and girls,

I'm just looking for opinion's really, im looking for some cheep-ish OEM wheels for my sw20 N/A, ive come across some 6 spoke Jeep Cherokee wheels, I know alot of the Dub lads and lasses are putting land rover wheels on passats etc. im just wondering if anyone has done it to a mr2 before and how if you think itll suit it. im thinking of having the lip polished and spokes in either body colour (bright yellow) violet, bronze or gunmetal, ill attach a link to similar ones to the ones im looking at buying.

part number is: 5hw90trmab

Thanks :)

Based on the PCD they will fit.. but the offset might make them catch on the suspension.

I've just bought a set of Nissan 300ZX wheels in 16" with all center caps. Cost me £100 including delivery for all four. Rubbed them all down and painted them gloss black:

Obviously you don't have to paint them, I just like black wheels.

Food for thought. :thumleft:

Also to add you're much better off getting 16" wheels they improve handling. Due to bigger sidewalls on the tyre

IMHO, they don't suit the rounded curves of the MR2 at all. :?

I know they are a risky choice Peter, what would you suggest as a choice? :)

OEM offroad 4x4 wheels are not going to be designed to be light in weight, although they will probably survive lowered suspension and an augment with a pothole.

Nissan R32 GTR/GTS-T 16" OEM wheels staggered fitment is perfect on an MR2, they are made by Rays and are light in weight. Mine took a while to find but I got them very cheaply.

Not mine, but this is what they look like.

Yeah I wanted GTS/GTR Skyline wheels, but it's finding a mixed set. Gave up and went for Nissan wheels, but 300ZX 16s.

When I sourced mine I got together with another member on here, we bought 4 x GTR wheels and 4 x GTS-T wheels for £300 then split them between us. Everything was arranged by email, we paid for the wheels separately and had each pair of wheels couriered directly to us.

Certainly have to have the planets aligned with that set up! I.e.

1. 2 people both wanting GTR/GTS wheels set up.
2. Both parties willing to agree on price to pay for said sets of wheels.
2. 2 complete sets of GTR and GTS wheels in good condition to come up for sale at the same time.

You've done well though. I was contemplating fitting a set of GTR wheels alround, but as you've found out, the fronts won't fit on the MR2 correctly.

We were very fortunate to find one seller who had both sets of wheels for sale at a good price. I found the wheels by trawling the skyline/GTR forums, eBay and the like, after that it was very easy to organise, we each paid our money individually using Pay Pal to the seller, then arranged/paid for our own courier collection.

If there's a member on here wanting a set of these I'd suggest finding a couple of sets for sale then posting up here to see if there is another member who wants in on the deal.
