As far as I can make out, the Apexi is discontinued for the MR2 Mk2.

Vems doesn't seem to offer anything over the PnP Megasquirt.

Yours isn't looking to be a big power build. I'd want to get rid of the distributor, go for a trigger wheel/crank sensor and wasted spark, maybe play with COP to see if it really adds anything more than expense, and hurl the AFM into the bin. AFAIK, that's all possible with the PnP. Were I looking at something approaching 400bhp, I'd think about EGT inputs (certainly possible on the PnP). Just look at the extensions that are available for the PnP Megasquirt.

For sure, there are lots of ECUs out there (probably the majority!) for less than £2000 fitted and mapped. My point was that for a DIY Megasquirt (the one built from a box of bits) with all the add ons, equivalent you'd probably be looking at that kind of money.

Someone on MR2OC has one set up to download all the data to his mobile phone via bluetooth.

Above all, consider your budget, the features on offer, possible extensions and whether the rolling road man (or woman) you trust is happy to map it.

Just to muddy the water, do take a peek at the PnP ECU Master (as I far as I know, only for Rev2 on, but that will change). ATS Racing.

I am just about to install a megasquirt 2 extra built by phil at extraefi.com. It has 16x16 ignition and fuel mapping. I am using 1zzfe cop and deleting the distributor and rotor. It deletes the afm and uses inboard map sensor with barometric compensation. I have it controlling my water/meth injection and boost. So what's basic about it? I will be eventually using the launch control and sequential injection. It streams the data on the fly to apple/android devices giving you a instantaneous gauge display of all your engine inputs and outputs. I am using a aem wideband to control the afr's in closed loop learning mode. Not outdated technology at all

Just read some information and forums about ATS PnP Ecu master and it looks like a great unit.
Will consider this over MS I think :) And the price looks friendly.

The world is becoming a very small place. Designed by an Englishman, built by Poles, PnP in the USA, fitted to a Japanese car owned by a Lithuanian. :)

Is there any opinions about AEM ecu? I found one used in Lithuania and think of buying it.
Is it easily programmable?

Can't find the specifications. Wise to try and find out exactly why it's being sold.

AEM ECUs are very good. Popular in the USA as they make PnP modules for USDM looms.

I know that guy and he was not selling, but I asked him and he agreed to sell it to me :) He's braking his Celica. He wants ~600gbp for this ECU. Do you think it's a good price?

Also, I am planning to buy from him bored fuel rail with 1700cc injectors (going on E85 probably), EGT, EBC, MAP, IAT sensors and loom for additional 620gbp. Maybe I don't need EGT?

There's one on eBay for less here.

At the end of the day, it'll depend which model. Can't advise further.
