NEW YEAR 2000 MR2 REV 5

Post by superbrian0 »

Hi
I just bought this 92,000 car yesterday .

The previous owner had lowered the car by 40 mil because he thought it would look good ...it does.....but unfortuneatly it now the a ride quality of a scate board .
How do I PUT IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS OR BETTER .
What bits do I NEED

As a curiousity my car has beautiful black leather seats but the entire
c entre section is ORANGE leather which looks really good .
Was this an original Toyota fitment as they ran the last of this series out . The paintwork is boring black

Regards Brian

Hi Brian.

I also had a 2000 'V' Rev 5 in Astral Black (reg doesn't end in HKS does it?)

The T Bars came with Black leather as standard, if its not full black it has been done afterwards. Gear lever and steering wheel had red stitching.

If its a sunroof model the seats were grey cloth, dont think you could even upgrade to leather as an option.

Not so sure about the ride height, best to contact Peter Giddens on here or Mr T for advice.

Rpb

Ps the Astral Black is very soft paint (can mark with finger nail easily) but looks stunning when polished

Lift the car up and have a look at the suspension. The front is the best to look at. It will be 2 things

Either you'll have coilovers. Long thing struts with a thread running up them

or you'll have lowering springs. If you've got coilovers you can simply turn the bottom of the strut to raise the car but it needs to be done evenly on all sides.

If you've got lowering springs it is a little more complicated. You'll have to go round take each strut off and replace all the springs.

I've got a set of Rev3 struts and springs completely standard for £130 if you need. they are a little rusty but aren't leaking at all and should clean up well.
