[Mk2] [NA] What is this screeching sound?

Hi Guys,

Going on a 4500 mile trip with the mr2 in a month, and its started making this loud noise (only occurs at idle)

What could this be? Never heard anything like this before.

Have you checked all your heat shields underneath and around your exhaust & manifold? I had something similar on a previous MR2 also check nothing else loose, sounds small almost like a washer.

I've given up chasing noises through video clips.

But an engine stethescope -- what, a tenner from your local factor -- will help you track down the source.

Stethoscope is a great thing. Poke it at water pump and alternator, probably one of those.

But on a serious note.. Stethescope is invaluable.

Its alright guys, the bird must have escaped, its stopped doing it now which is fine for me!
