Yeah makes sense, I think my list for when the rear end is off will be:

Yellow billies on with my apex springs
Polybush the rear arms
Whiteline arb with polybushes
Balljoints
And have all other moving parts inspected whilst at it.

Peter doesnt know this yet

No progress on this so i decided to keep my eyes peeled for another mr2 as its got to the point where ive lost business through not having a car.
Anyway wasnt having much luck looking for another, my budget was not much but needed something that runs with mot and preferably taxed and dependant on price it had to have some decent mods.
That all changed last night as i was first in line to view a car that it seemed the whole imoc community wanted.
Got myself a beige mica Rev5 Glimited Beams with a crazy amount of mods in my budget range!
Meet the little brother:

Image

Picked up from previous owner of 9years who was a somewhat wonderful chap, mainly because he didnt ask me for more money for the car!
Tonight i will give it good wash, tomorrow will have up on jack stands to start stripping and breaking
Reactions?
No i wont be actually, jack stands, wheels off and give the barrels a deep clean, clean over some other underneath parts, quicly once over interior then will hand wax the car very quickly... And now im back in business!

Looks like it needs a clean up, but having seen it in the flesh years ago I know it'll look a dime when it's done. A great purchase.

Hi Gullzter.

I think I've left my Celine Dion CD in the centre storage box. Can you
have a look for me and let me know.

Thanks.

So with the beams for time being, i gave it a wash then decided the wheels need a bit of life..

After washing them:

Next up was wire brush the lips:

This is how the inside of barrel looked:

Couldnt be bothered doing much on that so just a degrease:

And this is after a polish:

Bear in mind i wasnt looking for perfect as you will notice i didnt really do much in between the rays bolts, just a bit more acceptable to drive round in overall
Unfortunately on got 1 wheel polished after wire brushing them all as it was p1$$ing of rain ](*,)

Still look better though and will be a long term project, also i cant believe how light they are

Absolutely epic buy ! Well done :thumleft:

Would love a drive in a BEAMS ..

Btw I've got the same PP exhaust ; the mild steel pipes rot like hell , but I saved mine by buying a stainless 2.25" U bend from demon tweets for twenty odd quid and getting it welded in.

Enjoy your new budget blaster !

Thanks buddy, the exhaust blows like a b1tch at the U-bend, i was reading up about the PP exhausts and noticed you had yours for sale for pennies then decided to keep it! It does sound absolutely amazing high revs (5500+) but unfortunately under that it doesnt sound the best, not sure if thats to do with the blow though. I will have a look at this Stainless Ubend you speak of

Whats up with the turbo Ash?
We both know the Beams dont compare to a turbo and even moreso with the 5s block!

Just to save you possibly wasting time / money, once mended you'll find the exhaust to be fairly quiet overall with a sporty edge if that's your thing , if not replace with something else

Can you pm me a pic of yours fitted please?
Had a look and seems worth it, is that the only part of the exhaust that is mild steel?

Boost >>>> Beams any day of the week, but a Beams as a daily driver- and for so little money...now that is a different question!

And even better: a Beams head on a 5S block with boost
