[Mk2] [Generic] Fitting turbo radiator on an N/A?

Post by Donato »

My radiator has given up the ghost. So I've come to the decision of what radiator I'm after. The will be seeing a lot of abuse so I want to get something that will keep up with it, in 40degree European weather and track days. I opted for a standard genuine radiator, but they are no longer available so I'm after getting a Mishimoto Aluminuim one as I don't fancy my chances with an eBay jobbie.
It's listed as a turbo radiator only. I know the radiator will physically fit, and I'll have to get a turbo fan shroud as the non-turbo won't fit. But will the fan shroud be a plug and play job? I'm not particularly great with wiring and my car is off the road or otherwise I'd send it over to sBits to have the work done.
Another question would be about the hoses. I take it turbo and non turbo radiator hoses are the same?

Thankingyou! :thumleft:

Ive got a turbo rad on mine and the hoses fit fine.. the radiator is slightly wider too. As for the fans, im not sure about the mishimoto shroud being "plug and play" but they are very simple to wire up using the plugs from the original fans, just cut off the old plugs and solder onto the new wiring

Isn't it the location of the sensor which is different -summit like that otherwise both will physically fit?

Mountings, sensor, water inlet and outlet, and rad fan mounts in same places on all rads. Only the overall width varies.

The fan mounts on the NA import (narrow) radiator are different to the UK and Turbo rads. I managed to bodge mine until OCD forced me to buy a set of fans from a Turbo.
