So after some months of planning, buying, arranging and mould making I got a call fom Patrick(Headcase) to get my butt down to East Sussex as the first kit had come out of the new TRD moulds. Since I first had the car it has always been my ambition to get a widebody kit and now the reality.
The panels were pretty impressive and included an awesome extended boot (a 2 piece item complete with stock-style webbing on the underside). It was also mega-light so some compensation for fitting the kit but TBH the kit in total seems to be about the same weight as the panels that are removed.
Anyhoo, back to the job in hand, my rev Cosmos Blue '98 now with a Bodgesport V6 heart as it stood.
Starting to undress her :icon_razz: and thankfully no rust whatsoever.
Panels removed.
New boot dry fitted.
.....and and side wing extensions dry fitted.
Here is a side view of the rear extension panels.
Boot in place ready to get panel alignment and gaps evenly balanced.
And the boot gapped and fitted.
Rear quarters bonded and vented inspection panels in place.
All in all a good day or so to get to this stage, I'll be back down next week to generally get in the way but delighted with the product and the progress. Quite a lot done and still some way to go but it's taking shape and I'm getting quite excited by it all.

So awesome. Of you keep it cosmos blue I'll probably buy it off you one day hahaha! Cosmos TRD would be so delicious.
Re: Torero's TRD Widebody Build Thread - Project Vendetta.
Thanks for the comments guys but I've seen another Cosmos Blue TRD and I'm unsure as it doesn't highlight the detail enough and isn't as aggressive as black.
I've been looking at the Toyota blue that's used on the MK3 and RAV4 as I've seen a similar one on the American forums and it comes out really rich and stock looking.
Happy to hear any more opinions as I'm still not 100% convinced.

Nice project mate, tuned in.
Re: Torero's TRD Widebody Build Thread - Project Vendetta.
Good stuff. I am also looking to do a Rev5 UK to Turbo conversion and then fit a TRD kit to it. (Unless a Rev5 Turbo comes available then it would be just the Kit being fitted)
Do you have a link to where the Kit came from? Seen one on ebay but not had a reply from seller yet.
Cheers

@Craig and Matt - Cheers guys, not only am I in good hands with Patrick (Headcase) doing the fitting but also we sourced the kit and had his local GRP guy to make the moulds and the kit is a superb fit.
It's made from 'Duraflex' so it's less brittle and more forgiving than basic FRP and the guy has over 40 years experience in plastics so it's a quality product. The extended boot is amazing not only does it do away with the need for an extension piece and the cost of the fitting time but it's half the weight at least. The build is amazing, it's double skinned and has the stock type webbing on the underside which is in proportion with the boot lid.
This is going to look good
@Rev5GT - PM me if you want details Rash as we don't have trader status on here and it's not a commercial venture.

Awesome!
I actually really like the cosmos blue colour, there is one in the US that looks awesome. I don't have any pics but there are some on mr2oc.com AFAIK.

@Chris I think this guy was an IMOCer as well and it does look good in the sunlight but during most of the grey days we have in the UK it can sometimes looks a bit dull and I just think the bodykit deserves the details being shown off. I've dropped Pete a line to tell him all the panels will be at mine for him to collect in a week or so and it's surprising how good they are for a 15 year old motor so I think he'll be happy .
Thanks Rik, Infamous and MB with you all recommending it I may still yet decide on Cosmos blue but can I have some opinions on the pic below, as this is what sold the blue to me.

I agree with a lighter colour to show the lines of the kit better

Re: Torero's TRD Widebody Build Thread - Project Vendetta.
Looking good! I'm probably in the minority as I really don't see what all the fuss is with cosmos blue. I went to look at one in the cosmos blue and just felt the colour couldn't make it's mind up what is was meant to be. However the trd in cosmos blue pictured looks really good. But like you say maybe it's a colour that's best appreciated on a sunny day, something we often lack.
Will watch the thread with interest, certainly looking good to start with.
