Alarm going off unless the ignition is on

Post by hans-Rev3 »

Hi, my first post here and unfortunately it's because of a problem with my car.

Yesterday my alarm started playing up a couple of times, kept going off when I got out the car, locked or unlocked. Now I'm stuck in my car as the alarm goes off as soon as the ignition is turned off. It does this with either key and is a rev 3 uk NA. The alarm is the standard factory one.

I'm about to go and find somewhere quiet to try playing with it as I don't want to bother my neighbours.

Any ideas how I can fix this or at least disable the noise? I've tried searching but I'm on my phone and I haven't found anything particularly useful.

Hi Hans and firstly welcome to the site. We love pics here so get some taken and posted so we can all take a gander at your ride. Have you owned it long and what exactly is it? Sorry I can't help you out with your problem but recommend giving Rogue a call for advice or just calling out a local auto electrician. Probably just a loose wire, stuck relay or maybe water ingress...
Good luck fella and Happy New Year.

Thanks for the reply, I've finally managed to disable the alarm but retain the central locking and it still runs.

I've had it since the end of September, I'll get some pictures and a write up done shortly. Time to crack on with replacing the wing which is what I actually planned to do today.

Who's Rogue? I assume it's an MR2 specialist? I'll try and find them later. Glad I've got it fixed as I'm going away for a few months tomorrow!

I had a similar problem with my stock alarm. Under the left wing below the headlight you will find the alarm siren. My guess is its full of water and shot.
