[Mk2] [NA] How to Remove WindShield Scuttle Panel??

Post by nytrus90 »

Hey guys,

So my wiper blades have been making this screeching sound for some time now, at first it didn't bother me as I rarely had to drive with them on... well, times have changed and the great British weather is in full swing, thus having them on 60% of the time Now.

At first I thought it was the blades but I changed them and the screeching was still present, I have managed to trace it down to the motor that drives the arm that moves the wipers, I was told that this "knuckle" is what is causing my problem and that a good shot of WD-40 would be the cure.

Now to get to this "Knuckle" I need remove the Windshield Scuttle Panel and I have no idea on how to do this, does anyone knows or can direct me to a place that shows you how to take it off?

Thank you in Advance

Pretty simple

1) remove the two wiper arms using a 12mm socket, I'm sure the bonnet needs to be open for access to one and shut for the other
2) leave bonnet open, look along the scuttle panel and you'll see a number of small black screws holding the scuttle panel down, remove all the screws
3) lift off scuttle panel to gain access to the linkages

Don't forget to remove the plugs at either end of the scuttle panel. Under each plug is a hidden screw.
