[Mk2] [NA] Key central locking

Post by hellreign »

Hi All

My central on the key (all it has at the mo) has gone a bit funny.

Yesterday it started misbehaving. When i'd unlock the car from the drivers side, it would immediately lock the door again. constantly. I'd have to pop the door open quickly whilst unlocking.

Its stopped doing that today, however, now it does not lock the passenger door when looking the car up on drivers side.

Both doors will unlock together, just not lock. I can lock the doors fine from the inside with the door lock buttons. And I can lock unlock the passenger door on its own with the key.

Any pointers as to where I should start looking? Fuse? Mechanism issue on drivers side?

thanks

It will most likely be an issue with the CDL control box or a microswitch in a door. If an early car could be a broken wire in the A post wiring.

If you're good at electrics, you could diagnose it yourself. If not, i suggest you get it into an MR2 specialist.

ok cool thanks Peter. Its doing some more funny things today. it sits there constantly unlocking whilst i'm driving, can here the clunk.

Bit of a mission to get it secured but once I do it seems to stay locked.
