Im a jap virgin... faults faults faults

Post by v1xz »

morning all,
really need someone who is a mr2 guru.

k reg jap n/a.
Locks:
Drivers door lock will only unlock and lock itself by the key.
Passenger door will unlock/lock drivers door but wont open passengers door. Passenger door from inside is in lock position and is jammed, wont move a little bit.
Passengers window wont work from drivers door, lock button is up. Passengers window will work from passenger side, it went down, but doesnt wanna go up. No sound can be heard from motor when pressing the button for window to go up.

so in short, passenger door is like dead locked and wont open from inside or out. the window is down and wont go up.

Time to get your voltmeter and wiring diagrams out.

Could be a failure in the wiring between door and A post, or multiple faults.

If you need help, come over and see me.

There is no quick way without the motor working. I keep spare doors in stock, so any part you might need to sort it i have here.

You'll find me just the other side of Woodhead Pass.

Bit of a daft one but could it possibly be a fuse somewhere which could maybe explain why no noise from the motor?

If not then as Peter said motor or broken wiring somewhere?

Could you not take the doorcard off and push the window up from the inside?

Ha ha...
I got the door open. The inside lock was jamming against the handle frame, DUH!! I'm such a noob.
Any special instructions on getting the door card off?

I had the same problem with my passenger side window going down then not back up, I pulled the switches out from the drivers side (without taking door card off, clumsily breaking the retaining clip in the process!), and if I remember rightly the plug had shook loose I pushed it all back in tight and it sorted it. I can`t remember if it still worked with the passenger side switch or not at that point though but worth a try.

Got the door card off the passenger side. All wires seem to be in good condition, anyone got any suggestions on how I can get my window up?

Wouldnt the fuse render the whole system useless? If not where is the fuse for it please?

I'm not sure I'm only brainstorming :-)

The fuses may be in the drivers side footwell. If not they maybe in either the frunk or engine bay ?

You'll find the fuse (30A marked "POWER") in the driver's footwell fuse panel.

It covers both windows.

The passenger switch works, the window went down by pressing the switch. You can hear the motor but nothing when you press the window to put it up.
The fuse is fine also.

it was the switch itself, took it to an electrician when i got back to manny. He simply used poss and neg from battery and found the two wires. Presto, the window went up....

so if it fails next time i know what to look for. just need to find a switch now.

do what i did, take off the door card i run power direct off the battery to the motors mine worked straight off so it showed it was the wiring in between the door as i already checked the fuses and its quick
