Just inboard from the hub, there's a ring-type thing on the driveshaft (I'm looking at the offside) It's about 2 inches diameter and half an inch wide, seems to be a rubber inner and a metal ring surrounding that, with more rubber over the top.
What's it's function?
On mine it looks a bit knackered, how easy is it to replace? Is it expensive

Its a damper to help prevent vibration.
Drive shaft damper
Last time I checked this part was unavailable from Toyota. If anyone knows of an alternative part from another Toyota or other vehicle let us know. Mine is also totally gone.

Just cut it off, there is no difference with it fitted or removed.
