Hi
I have just bought some part worn AD08s 215/45/17 87W to put on the tubby. Currently running 215 rear and 205s front.
I have 9x17 rear / 8x17 front rims. Thinking about the rears - will a 225/45 be ok (was origininally going to go 235/45) - 225 so much cheaper than the 235s??
Mainly track day use.
Cheers

Re: Tyres size query
225 would be a tad small I think it'd end up having stretch on a 9J rim, I normally use 215 front and 245 rears on 8/9J combo they should sit fine that way and you then keep the OEM 30mm stagger that Toyota put on, you'll notice the characteristics of the car will change too
Re: Tyres size query
225 will be very stretched on a 9" wheel.

Re: Tyres size query
You want 40/17s not 45/17s. Even if you aren't lowered you'll have trouble on the road never mind the track.
I am considering changing my 245/40/17 rears for 245/35/17!

That's strange. I'm lowered on FK's, I had 215 45 17 front 245 40 17 on the rears with no issues?

Re: Tyres size query
Really? The fronts are okay for sure. I was meaning the rears more than anything. I bought a set of enkeis once and they had 245/45/17s on the back. There was no way the car would drive on them.
245/40 and 245/35 are closer to rolling radius of 225/50/15 anyway.

I don't know then. I had a stupid size on originally on my old set of wheels (235 45 17) so I swapped them over to the Conti's in 245 40 and had no issues wth them whatsoever
Either way I'd go for what's cheapest LOL
