So, it's been a few weeks since my last update and since then i've been across Europe and added a couple of bits to the car.

The Rev5 wheels i had, i bought brand new Toyo T1-R tyres for and had them fitted at Toyota. I had to source some Avensis nuts due to them being shorter on the Rev5 wheels.

Image

And fitted them on..

Image

Gave them a good clean too..

Image

I also had the car fully aligned at Toyota and all wheel balanced to perfection. Nice and smooth now. They spent three hours unseazing all the threads ](*,)

Now, the fun part. I've been planning to go to the south of Italy for a long time. It's finally happened. I absolutely enjoyed it, what a ball. Car performed outstandingly. Not a slight struggle or mishap from the engine driving 3000+ miles in two weeks! It coped with 45 degree heat on the motorway and only managed to melt my Power Flex engine mount :-k

I'll let the pictures do the talking..

All packed up and ready to go..

Image

At the hotel in dover..

Image

Somewhere in France..

Image

And arrived!

Image

Image

On the way to Como, Italy..

Image

Swiss tunnels...

Image

And the ferry back home in Calais.

Absolute blast

So the car was fully serviced after, nice a fresh again. When i got back to work, i ordered up a refurbished calliper for the NSF which was fitted. As you can probably tell it was dying off. Whilst the calliper was being replaced, i had the rubber boots for the sliders swapped for new genuine ones.

Then i purchased a Cusco front adjustable brace off Matt-MR2. Fitted that and what a difference that made to the cars turn in! Much sharper response now.

Image

I also managed to source a Top Fuel Power Deck Spacer, imported from Japan a few years ago through Nengun. Similar to the one Hurley are doing a group buy on now. I idea behind it is 'That it increases torque at acis change over by changing the acoustic signal and providing a larger chamber of air to draw upon, which in turn increases power, typical gains 3-7 bhp on an engine in good Condition.'

Image

It's all fitted now with genuine gaskets from Toyota for both sides. Previous user used silicone, which works, but i'd rather use gaskets.

I've noticed a lot more torque at low - mid rev range. But overall feels like it's done a world of good to the rev range. To fit this, i had to remove the coil lead plastic holder. So i need to find a new way of holding the coil leads in place.

Although the block looks like some form of resin on the outside, it's made from a block of aluminium. Previous user has painted it in some weird gold colour. I'll have a go a removing that at a later date.

Next on the to-do-list is replace the down pipe as it's blowing at the flex and to replace the discs at the front. Think i'll be going with OEM items as they seem to have pretty good views.

Interested by the power deck, but think I may be close on my strut brace...
How much we're the gaskets?

Worth group buy price

Hurley Motorsport are doing the group buy currently. I think they come with gaskets, but i paid £16.73 for mine at cost

It lifts the ACIS cover by 25mm, as essentially it is just a 25mm spacer.

Whilst adding the ACIS spacer, i've discovered that i can't re-attach the vacuum piping to the cover as the threaded bars aren't extended. So i've decided to replace them with Samco equivalent. Just an excuse to spruce up the engine bay a little. I've ordered up 3 meters of 4mm & 6.3mm. That should be here by this weekend, that'll give me something to do. Also going to visit Peter @ sBits to have a coolant flush and fresh fitted and to see if he has a spare B-pipe as the flex on mine is blowing a bit.

I believe there is someone that is making a plastic version of the ACIS spacer. It's in trials now and will be coming out in the next couple of weeks if it works fully. A few Celica guys have used this guy before for the part, but i'm told he made aluminium ones before :-k He think's prices will be about £90 + postage

I've just measured mine to double check the measurement and it's 30mm! I thought it looked quite thick.

So with it being the bank holiday, and the sun blaring out, i decided it was time to fit some long over due front discs. I opted for the OEM Toyota ones as they are pretty good.

This.

It will completely transform your bay and will look awesome. Doesn't look bad now mind, however small touches make a huge difference. Means you'll be a slave to cleaning though
