Whining noise - alternator?

Hi guys

My mr2 has started making a whining noise. As first I thought it was gearbox but it still there in neutral or with the clutch in. It changes in pitch as revs increase. With my head under the bonnet it sounds like its coming from the alternator which on searching seems quite a common issue

Is it most likely the bearings in it? Belt was replaced at pacific works about a year ago.

If so what's my best bet? New/reconditioned alternator or would it be possible to refurb it?

Can anyone recommend a supplier? Car is a 1996 Rev 4 NA

It seems to have stopped for the last few days, will wait till it comes back before i do anything about it i think.
