I have their sort code and bank account number (not sure If that will do me any good) - and there account is called " FAMEDALE LTD"

Ive just started the process of claiming my money back via my CC company.

FYI

FAMEDALE LTD shares a director with our old friends Nippon Spares, and have 3 outstanding CCJ's totalling £3685.00.

This might be useful with your CC company.

Same location too. must be yet another name change.

My issues with them are well documented, but at least I got my cash back

Ideal Engines Experience

Post by jamie1976 »

Hi everyone, I've been reading your thread about ideal engines and decided to include my own experience.

I bought an engine in May 2013, proved extremely faulty immediately (huge internal oil leak). Lost over £1000 in garage fees. Another month later they finally collected their faulty engine. Still no refund. Contacted C.A.B, been helped by Trading Standards (Ideal engines are currently even ignoring them). Next is to file a CCJ. Another guy I have been talking with is going to open a wind up case against them. At first I thought he was joking but apparently it's a way of declaring bankruptcy for a company if two or more people (creditors) are owed money that isn't being paid.

Thanks IMOCUK, I hope this message helps others avoid the despair that ideal engines serves.

Seriously can't see how they're still trading, reported them to ebay with proof and nothing is done :-/

That is well dodgy!! Amazed they are talking about not wanting to charge you VAT on an email.

If they said they bung 3% CC fees on if you paid by card then fair enough.

Well I do lots of cash dealing with companies. The guy who does my custom exhausts prefers it as he's a small trader and he works under the Tax limit for sole traders.

However...Not being abrupt or anything but do you need to know more about this company other than what's already on the web? There's various car club forum threads full of experiences with this company and several other names associated with the same company.

I have no experience with them so nothing to comment apart from their write-ups are pretty legendary in the car world. Their feedback on a Google search beggars belief.

Hmm strange one as I've noticed recently search doesn't work like it used to. As long as you clicked "search for all terms" then it would return useful results. Now it makes no difference, just pretty much every result for any word in order -which pretty much just means almost all posts in chronological order.

The "Ideal" or "MR" engines or "nippon" thing must be so well known now surely? Plug it into Google. I think the Mitsi / Scoob forums had the most to say.

This isn't an issue between 2 parties who are both based members of IMOC. Also, it's 1 thread that contains all the relevant information, no one is starting multiple threads repeating the same information about their issue with ideal engines, are they?

Fundamentally different kettle of fish.

Edit: I would add, though, that this thread should probably be in trader feedback, as that's what it has evolved into.

That's odd, we haven't changed anything! I'll take a look.

Edit: I've just tried a search for ideal engines, one with all terms and one with any terms selected. All terms returns 118 threads, any terms returns 7800. I think it's working as intended!

Howd they test the gearboxes btw?
Needs to be done under load up to full power and speed/temperature, have they got a rolling road?
Nah, "looks ok mate".

Poker Face wrote:Firstly i will say I have had reservations about ordering an engine from the above mentioned but 'a' I need an engine and 'b' my mechanic said we can have a look before we fit and if you pay by c.c you stand a good chance if they are dodgy.

Well the engine arrives not very well packed according to my engineers, and the use a boroscope/endoprobe to look inside the cylinders and see carbon rings in the cylinders etc.

The whole engine has been re-sprayed which is a common bluff for a recon engine.

both myself and my engineers spoke to 'ideal' and they basically said return for a refund as someone else will buy the engine or return it. If I strip it I will void the warrantty and will not be able to return the engine so a strip and report is out of the question.

I don't want to start a thread about dodgy dealers but I need an engine sooner rather than later. The way I look at it is I have just paid too much for a second hand engine or bought a cheap recon.

My gut feeling was to f**k them off in the first place. Now I'm in a dilemma. Stip it and see if its any good and no warrantty or fit it and chance it or send it back.

Most options will cost dollar and if I get a second hand engine I will still get it looked at.

After all this it really boils down to I know nothing about mr2 turbo's which is why I'm looking for a new engine. I bought a car, engine went a small while and then it died. PLEASE HELP.

This was one of my first posts after buying my Mr2. I had my pants pulled over my head. Some bad advice from some clowns in Reading didn't help. I hope nobody else ever makes the same mistake as I did. Its a lot of hassle getting your full refund, they try and charge an admin fee.
