4 wheel alignment or just tracking?

Post by K22WES »

i have just fitted a set of apex springs to my revision 5. do i really need to do a 4 wheel alignment or just get the tracking done? there is a big price difference and i cant really see why the rears would need adjusting as i haven't changed anything else.

Changing ride height changes effective track rod length. Front and back.

Assuming you've changed all 4 springs, then you've changed the ride height front and back, and as a result changed effective track rod length front and back.

That's why 4 wheel alignment is recommended.

Shouldn't cost much more than two wheel alignment.

ok thats a bit clearer. is it worth letting the springs settle for a while before getting the alignment done? the front hasn't really come down much at all, about 5mm front 20mm rear. have been quoted £75 for 4 wheel alignment, sounds a lot to me.

No advantage in waiting. I, like any other business fitting springs for visitors to the workshop will do alignment as part of the job.

£75 is a good price. I paid £99 at Revolution in Newcastle a couple of years ago.
