Taking delivery of a Haslbeck Mr2

Post by PW@Woodsport »

Perhaps the holy grail of kitted Mk1s, the Haslbeck, I know of only 2 worldwide. I have located one of them and it is on it's way to Woodsport early next week, I've been trying to track one of these down for years, lots of pics to come.

EDIT: Haslbeck spelling corrected.

Not sure mate, I'll either restore it (car is in poor condition) or mold all of the panels to make the kit available again, I need to see it in person next week but pretty excited to finally find one.

One of the very few images to be found of it, the old supercharger site had pics but that's gone now...

In all honesty I was worried what it was going to look like. I HATE kitted mk1s but this looks promising. Front end looks rather RS200 which isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

Good find Mr Woods.

The correct writing is "Haslbeck" ,not "Hasselbeck" .

No idea how much was made, but they was avaible from Toyota Germany who called this car "MR2 High Tech" .I have the original brochure of it. Sadly it´s oversized and don´t fit to my scanner.

I know two Haslbeck here in Germany. A red one and a white one. I know the uncle of the owner of the white one who is a MK1 enthusiast too and own a superclean Mk1b himself.
The Haslbeck was in a really bad condition and they worked hard to rebuild it: http://www.toyota-klassik.de/index.php? ... readID=189

STUNNING.

And almost symmetrical, I've never liked the asymmetry of the vent and fuel flap on the mk1. This kit has gone some way to rectifying that but I think I prefer the standard mk1b vent. Still stunning.

Xlarge sincere thanks for that info and for correcting me on the spelling, I always presumed it was Hasselbeck! Some stunning pics of it there, I did know of the two German cars but was not aware this was actually a Toyota kit, that really does give it something special and not just another aftermarket bodykit. It looks amazing in the brochure!

I will have to make a decision when it gets here, either restore the car it is on and make it a very special thing (it needs a full resto) or cut it up and mold everything.

Lots of pics to come.

Love the new taillight centre panel, that would be nice on a standard car...

Mk1 has never really appealed to me but I have to say that is stunning! It works so well with the lines.

I agree, in fact I can't find a bad view of the whole thing, looks fantastic.

The front kind of reminds me of my old Cartlon mod...

Haslbeck was an aftermarket fabricator independently from Toyota Germany, but Toyota bought much parts from Haslbeck and sold them as Original Toyota Accessorie. Thats what the print in the right lower corner of the brouchure says: "MR2 Zubehörprogramm" which means "MR2 accessorie programm" in English.
Just the same with the wheels of the Haslbeck. The alloy wheels Toyota sold in 80th and 90th came from Atiwe, an italien company Toyota Germany bought the wheels from and sold them as their own accessorie.
Because of that these wheels are so popular on 80th and 90th Toyotas here in Germany.

I see, so basically Toyota put their name to the Haslbeck parts, pretty cool.

I really like this, I didn't even know they existed! Kitted mk1s usually don't appeal to me at all, but this does look cool. If you restore it to mint condition then you will have something pretty special and rare.

The bodykit is cool, but I`m not sure about those headlights. Looks way to retro-wannabe-modern to me.

Other than that, I love that you got the hold of one of these cars, seems to be as rare in the worldwide market as the MK1 is in the Norwegian market
